There are more than 135 different ethnic groups in Burma. The majority groups are The Chin, The Kachin, The Karenni (sometimes called Kayah), The Karen (sometimes called Kayin), The Mon, The Rakhine, and The Shan, each with its own unique history, culture, language and cuisine. Some Burmese dishes are blended with its neighboring countries flavors yet most has its own unique identity based on its various ethnic groups and its culture.
