Albi; Arabic for ‘my heart’ is the debut restaurant from chef/owner Michael Rafidi, located in the Navy Yard neighborhood in Washington DC. For his first solo restaurant, chef Rafidi draws inspiration from his roots in the Levant region, bringing to the table an experience that melds the ancient culinary tradition of the region’s coal fired cuisine with local, seasonal ingredients, and a refined culinary acumen. Albi offers both a la carte dining as well as our signature “SOFRA” menu. SOFRA translates roughly as ‘a table set for you’ in Arabic and is a dining tradition that lies at the heart of the Albi experience with an implication of hospitality. Most dishes will be served family style, and the semi-spontaneous menu will highlight various aspects of Levantine cooking and seasonal ingredients, all revolving around our centerpiece coal-fired hearth.
