Kelly and Katie are sisters who have lived by the Jersey Shore in Barnegat for over 15 years. Credit for the restaurant name goes to Mark Ford, Kelly’s son who suggested the name “Breakers” after he learned that the name Barnegat came from the Dutch “Barendegat”, meaning an inlet with breakers, which is what Henry Hudson and his “Half Moon” crew named the bay area that locals now call home. Kelly and Katie thought it was an appropriate name to match their vision of the restaurant, and captured their affinity for the Barnegat Bay area perfectly. They are excited to invite you to their happy neighborhood destination for a fun, fantastic dining out experience and comfortable atmosphere.
